I AM ALIVE, HE LOVES ME AND HAS FORGIVEN ME
So you’ve heard we at YAFC have themed the month of December as Thanksgiving. And you ask after everything that’s going on in the world right now what’s there to be thankful of??
Let’s take a trip down memory lane;
At the start of this year(2020) we were all geared up to a year full of fun, adventure and most importantly achieving our personal goals. The first month of the year started off really good, well in most parts of the world that is, some were able to achieve a few of their goals.
In February a new virus severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) which causes the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was a becoming a hot topic in the news. However It seemed to be managed well by our world leaders so most people carried on as normal.
In March government leaders around the world especially in the UK realised that they were at war at war with an invisible enemy (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). As a result the first nationwide lockdown was announced to commence on 23rd March 2020 in the U.K
By April most countries around the world were in lockdown, there was limited travel between countries and the rate of people being infected and dying as a result of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) kept rising. Many lost their jobs and made homeless and some even committed suicides as they couldn’t bear living in a world where they had no hope.
So you ask again how is this convincing me to be thankful?
Well ,for you on the otherhand, your story for this year is different. And these are the reasons why:
You are alive and reading this message. Regardless of what happened during the past 11months of the year 2020, you survived it and that’s one reason to be thankful to God. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Because God loves you. Yes He does! Even when we don’t deserve it, because nothing can separate us from His love. “For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, neither the world above nor the world below — there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
He has forgiven you. The bible says for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). However no matter how serious your sin maybe I am here to remind you that God is always reaching out to us and is willing to forgive if we have a repentant heart. “everyone has sinned and is far away from God's saving presence. But by the free gift of God's grace all are put right with him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free.”(Romans 3:23-24)
So I urged you today,
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.”
Psalms 100:4-5 NIV
With Love,
