POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS

Everywhere around us, on TV and at work people always mention the name of Jesus in vain. This behaviour is also a reflection of our current society. According to the British Social Attitudes (BSA) survey for 2019, the  proportion of the British population who identify as Christian has fallen dramatically over the last three decades. Overall the proportion of the population that do not believe in God has doubled from 13% in 1998 to 26% in 2018

So if there is an increase in the number of people who do not believe in God, why then do people mention the name of Jesus. I believe it’s a tactic used by the enemy to devalue the name of Jesus through deception. And to be honest I am not surprised as the bible says he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44).

Why do people swear using the name of Jesus rather than any other name?

“so that we would not be exploited by the adversary, Satan, for we know his clever schemes.”

2 Corinthians 2:11 TPT

 So today I would love to remind us that there is POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS.There is a story in the bible about the disciples Peter and John who healed a lame man ( Acts 3:1-10). This story reminds us of the POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS. The lame man asked both Peter and John for money and their response demonstrated the power in the name of Jesus. 

“Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.” ‭‭

Acts 3:6-8 NKJV

 So do not be deceived the name of JESUS produces answers to prayers

 Approaching God in Jesus’ name means everything! 

And I will do whatever you ask for in my name, so that the Father's glory will be shown through the Son. If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it - John 14:13-14 GNT

When that day comes, you will not ask me for anything. I am telling you the truth: the Father will give you whatever you ask of him in my name - John 16:23 GNT

 SO REMEMBER

Every prayer we pray and every need we take to God IN JESUS’ NAME will be answered and met in the way that most glorifies God.

 For this reason God raised him to the highest place above and gave him the name that is greater than any other name. And so, in honor of the name of Jesus all beings in heaven, on earth, and in the world below will fall on their knees, and all will openly proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father - Philippians 2:9-11 GNT
