LET’S TEST YOUR FOUNDATION
Luke 6:46-48 - “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built”.
Have you watched those movies where a storm just destroys a house, ripping it from its foundations and when you see what was holding that house down… you start to question who built it and why they built it like that!
But that’s the funny thing about storms isn’t it, they reveal our foundation, you never know how well your house is built until it is tested.
Right now, you have or are being tested, your foundation is being tested. From the minute you woke up to the minute you went to sleep, your mind is racing, you don’t know what could happen. You’re filled with doubt, fear, anger, frustration, you’re drained, sorrowful, hurting. Life is just hitting you left right and centre.
So now let me ask you, in this time of fear, doubt, anger and frustration, who will you lay your foundation on?
Verse 48 says the wise man laid his foundation on the rock. SO, who is your rock?
Isaiah 28:16 says “Therefore, the Lord God said this ‘Look, I have laid a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone. A sure foundation, the one who believes will be unshakeable”.
Guys, the torrent has come, its shaking you, its pressing you, it’s trying to destroy you mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
But who will you lay your foundation on?
We can be unshakeable if Jesus is our foundation
So, build on Christ
Let’s look at Covid, Covid has really disrupted our lives, it has taken lives and ruined lives. Some of you may be going through struggles, personal, family, relationships… you feel like there’s an enemy of progress just blocking your way.
So, during this time, what daily habits will you create in your life to lay a solid foundation so you can be unshakable. Even when the storm comes, it will not prevail.
Jesus is your sure foundation in the storm
If you build your foundation on Christ, Hell can’t come against you
If you put your faith in Christ, He will never let you down.
Psalm 18:2 – The lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer, my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my strong hold.
So, who will you lay your foundation on?
Matthew 7:25 – The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock – remember where your help comes from, remember who makes the impossible possible.
Life is crazy but, we have peace.
We can have peace in the midst of the storm
When our faith is built on the rock of Jesus Christ, we become unshakeable
There is no storm that can stop God from meeting your needs
Where there is shaking, an outpouring comes.
So, where will you lay your foundation?
When the storm tries to break you, will you be unshakeable because you have laid your foundation on Christ?
The devil will always try to put doubt in your mind, he will try to discourage you, tell you it’s over, tell you your problem is too big… but nothing is impossible for God, you have victory over your circumstances, you have victory over the depression, you have victory over the anxiety, you have victory over that illness, 1 Corinthians 15: 57 says “but thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” There is no storm that can stop God from meeting your needs. Build on Christ.
